Abstract

This article introduces the notion of seeing like a field – the view from the inside of a Bourdieusian field in which agents and their social positions are located. Potentials and fallacies of concretizing field theory with social network analysis (SNA) are evaluated on the basis of two examples of current research approaches to big visual data: computer vision networks and image similarity analysis.
