Conditions for the Manifestation of Hostility Towards Science and Their Interactions in a Multi-Level Model

Abstract

This article synthesizes previously fragmented discussions about the conditions that foster hostility towards science into a multi-level sociological model. Based on a scoping review, it combines macro-structural developments, micro-based, socially situated positions of trust, interests and interpretations, as well as digital platform architectures, and also analyses their interactions. The article thus develops an integrative perspective on contemporary and often digitally amplified hostile attitudes and actions towards science.
