Participation of Children and Adolescents in Determining Family and Care Arrangements After Parental Separation

Abstract

How to organize living arrangements and childcare after a separation is a key decision for families. Involving children and their wishes and needs in this decision regarding family and care arrangement can be very important for them. Data from the representative Swiss survey of separated parents and children “Wenn die Eltern nicht zusammenwohnen” (“When parents don’t live together”) was used to analyse which factors influence children’s participation in deciding on family or care arrangement.
