Abstract

This paper examines whether the COVID-19 crisis reshaped the transition to upper secondary education in Switzerland and reinforced migration-related inequalities. Using exhaustive LABB administrative data, we compare three cohorts completing compulsory school before and during the pandemic with sequence analysis and detailed migration indicators. Results show more linear trajectories, higher entry into general education, and stable VET access. Inequalities by nationality and residence permit remain strong, with no clear pandemic exacerbation.
